Unique to O-AT-KA, a program designed on a three-tier plan.  It doesn’t matter where you are in your skill level or interest; we have a program designed so you can be placed into a craft that meets your needs.

Our recreational level, for a boy who is new to a craft or just wants to experience it, teaches introductory skills in a hands-on and fun way.  Our Chevron Program is oriented to the camper interested in becoming proficient in a craft and meeting certain skill requirements.  This camper wants to achieve some level of master to ultimately achieve a Chevron. O-AT-KA’s Clinics, designed for the boy more narrowly focused on one particular craft and interested in spending two periods per day to work on the craft. An integral part of our philosophy in teaching crafts is to reinforce the values instilled in our The Order of Sir Galahad Program.  These key values— helpfulness, obedience, truth, chivalry and service—are reinforced by our instructors during crafts as well as daily camp life.

Five days a week, campers participate in selected activities, which we call “crafts”. Craft days have six periods—three in the morning and three in the afternoon. One morning period is spent taking swim lessons, and the last afternoon period is “free” choice. Wednesdays are trip days. Each unit enjoys outings to the ocean or hiking and swimming in the mountains.  Campers go on at least one overnight trip each session. Cabin groups may spend the night at a remote campsite on the camp’s property, camping along a local river, state park, or at O-AT-KA’s outpost on Outer Island.
